Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also called benign prostatic hypertrophy or enlarged prostate, is a disease that affects men. Due to BPH, the vast majority of men develop an abnormal enlargement of the prostate, which affects the urinary and reproductive systems.

Enlarged prostate means that the prostate gland gets bigger, causing a blockage of the urine flow. BPH is not cancerous and does not cause cancer, but the symptoms of this condition are very similar to prostate cancer symptoms (in the cases that prostate cancer shows symptoms).
