5. There are several treatments available

Fortunately there are several medications available to relief the symptoms of BPH. Some of these treatments will work to shrink the prostate or relax urinary muscles. But sometimes drugs are not enough, and if these fail physicians can try several techniques to surgically remove part or all of the prostate, or open more space for the urethra. These procedures are more often considered as minimally invasive, and can range from laser surgery to TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate).
