- Chronic prostatitis or chronic pelvic pain syndrome: The main symptoms are pain or discomfort lasting three or more months between the scrotum and anus, in the central lower abdomen, in the penis, in the scrotum, in the lower back and/or during or after ejaculation.
- Acute bacterial prostatitis: often experiencing urinary frequency and urgency, fever, a burning feeling or pain during urination, pain in the genital area, nocturia, nausea, body aches, trouble starting a urine stream, a weak or interrupted urine stream, and urinary tract infections among others.
- Chronic bacterial prostatitis: Symptoms of chronic bacterial prostatitis are similar to the ones experienced by patients with acute bacterial prostatitis, but not as severe.
- Asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis: Men with asymptomatic inflammatory prostatitis do not have symptoms.
