3. Minimally Invasive Procedures for BPH
Minimally invasive procedures can be used to treat BPH, particularly when medication is not effective. There are many different procedures, including Prostatic Stent, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU), Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate (HoLEP), Interstitial Laser Coagulation (ILC), Transurethral Electroevaporation of the Prostate (TUVP), Transurethral Microwave Thermotherapy (TUMT), Transurethral Needle Ablation (TUNA), Photoselective Vaporization (PVP), UroLift, or Catheterization. Minimally invasive procedures for BPH provide relief from the symptoms in a simpler way than surgery, but patients are at higher risk of needing surgery in the future, according to the Urology Care Foundation.
