Dexmedetomidine infusion during TUR surgery reduces the rate and intensity of emergence agitation and catheter-induced bladder discomfort.

Dexmedetomidine infusion given during surgery for transurethral resection of the prostate substantially decreases the rate and intensity of severe distress that could result when patients wake up from general anesthesia.
