According to the Mayo Clinic, there are five main risk factors for developing benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also called enlarged prostate.
1. Age: BPH tends to affect men as they get older, and the older a man gets the more likely he is to suffer from BPH. Approximately 30 percent of men will have experienced enlarged prostate problems by the time they reach 60. This increases to 50 percent by the time men reach their 80th birthday.
