In this video from Neil Baum shared in June 2010, Dr. Neil Baum explains what prostatitis is. The condition, which is an infection or inflammation of the prostate gland, typically affects men between the ages of 25 and 65 and the symptoms can vary depending on the cause and the severity of the infection. Symptoms can include pain in the lower abdomen, scrotum, anus or lower back, pain during or after ejaculation, and urgency and/or frequency of urination.
Dr. Baum talks about how prostatitis is diagnosed, the likely causes of the condition and some of the treatments–both medical and natural–that are available, such as over-the-counter and prescription medicines, sitz baths, and having sexual intercourse.
