Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), also called benign prostatic hypertrophy or enlarged prostate, is a disease that affects men and causes an abnormal enlargement of the prostate, which affects the urinary and reproductive systems.

In this video from the Rose Medical Center shared in June 2015, urologist Dr. Ali Sarram gives a brief overview of the differences between prostate cancer and BPH. “The prostate can either become cancerous or it can grow and cause urinary problems,” he said.
