If you have extremely uncomfortable or painful symptoms of BPH and medication or minimally invasive procedures have proven ineffective, then your urologist may suggest surgery. There are now different options available if you wanted to go down the surgical route which will either remove some or all of the enlarged prostate tissue or make the urethra wider using a series of cuts in the prostate.

The four surgery options for BPH are transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) which is the most common option for men, transurethral incision of the prostate (TUIP), laser surgery, and open prostatectomy which is used when the prostate is very enlarged.
