Jimmy Charles Pens Song to Raise Awareness of Prostate Health

The non-profit organization Zero Cancer approached country singer Jimmy Charles to record a song for them that could be used as an anthem for men going through cancer. Charles worked with Phil Shulka, a cancer survivor who mentors cancer patients, to help him write the song’s lyrics.

When people think of problems with the prostate, they often assume that it’s cancer. But as urologist Dr. Meir Daller explains, its much more likely to be benign prostate hyperplasia.

While this song is about dealing with prostate cancer, it sends out a clear message that men should take better care of their prostate health. Dealing with a serious prostate problem can leave men feeling isolated and reluctant to look for both emotional and physical help. Many men tend to be reluctant to seek help, thinking that it’s embarrassing or somehow not a manly thing to do.

Jimmy Charles’ song “Superman” is a tribute to men going through prostate cancer. He hopes to inspire more men to have their prostate checked regularly, so they can catch problems early and get treated before it becomes too serious.
