5. Scar tissue

In the year following BPH surgery, scar tissue can form in the urethra causing it to narrow. If this happens, a urologist will stretch the urethra. In rare cases, the scarring can occur at the opening of the bladder causing blockages, which will require a surgical procedure to rectify.
